Promise Opens Doors Becomes a Registered Highfield Qualifications Learning Centre

We're excited to share a milestone years in the making: as of May 2026, Promise Opens Doors is officially a registered Learning Centre with Highfield Qualifications — a UK awarding organization regulated by Ofqual, the government body responsible for regulating qualifications, examinations, and assessments in England.

This partnership means our graduates can now earn the Highfield Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) — a genuinely regulated qualification that sits on the UK's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), at the same level as widely recognized credentials like CELTA.

Why this matters

Anyone who has spent time researching TEFL or TESOL certification programs knows the landscape can be confusing. The word "accredited" gets used loosely across the industry, often without a real regulator standing behind it. We've written before about how to navigate that landscape — and why it matters to look past marketing language to what's actually verifiable.

That's exactly what sets this credential apart. The Highfield Level 5 Diploma isn't a badge we're applying to our own coursework — it's a qualification independently regulated by Ofqual, built to defined national standards, and checkable by anyone through Highfield's own verification tools. For our graduates, that means walking away with a credential that speaks for itself to employers, ministries of education, and visa programs around the world — not just to us.

What's changing for students

Our comprehensive 120-hour curriculum now forms the foundation of the new Level 5 pathway, with additional coursework built in to meet Highfield's regulatory standard. Alongside our existing 60-hour and 120-hour certificate programs, prospective teachers now have the option to pursue this more rigorous, formally regulated diploma — particularly valuable for those looking to teach in countries or institutions with stricter credential requirements, or simply for anyone who wants the strongest possible qualification behind their teaching career.

A milestone two decades in the making

Promise Opens Doors has been training English teachers since 2003, and along the way we've navigated our share of an accreditation landscape that isn't always straightforward — including, in years past, learning firsthand what a weak or pay-to-play "accreditor" looks like. That experience is part of why this particular partnership matters so much to us: it's the result of years of deliberately seeking out a genuine, regulated standard rather than settling for a marketing claim.
